BESE
EXECUTIVE CREATIVE DIRECTOR
2017-2019
Michael was among the first three hires at BESE, a new Gen Z focused media platform and creative agency founded by Zoe Saldana. BESE's mission is to broaden and reshape the existing narrative around underrepresented communities, and create discourse around identity, culture, and social impact.
As a foundational member of BESE, Michael was pivotal in launching and establishing a premium, relevant, and successful brand. His work included creative development, content strategy, brand partnerships, video direction and production, editorial direction, audience development, and publishing.
Experiential:
The Identity Gallery
For BESE and Unilever, Michael developed and curated a pop-up fine art and photography collection in Los Angeles celebrating Latinx identity featuring artists Devyn Galindo, Antonio Pulgarin, Star Montana and Las Fotos Project. This intimate pop-up experience included a private launch party, and was then open to the public free of charge.
Experiential:
Breaking Glass
The culmination of a video campaign Michael developed and directed for Toyota, Breaking Glass featured Willow Smith moderating a live panel of women changing the current conversation in dance, music and fashion. This branded event included a film screening, live music, and local cuisine.
